THE BENNETTS MONTHLY JULY '25

2 July, 2025

All things Bennetts and Coffee...

July’s here, and while the chill might be lingering, we’ve got plenty to warm things up. From impactful industry initiatives to exciting coffee updates, there’s lots brewing at Bennetts this month. So, pour yourself a hot cup and dive into what’s ahead.

In this edition, we break down the latest insights from our monthly market report, spotlight the upcoming CaféSmart campaign making a difference this August, and share details on our involvement in the Grounds for Health charity auction. Plus, a look ahead at a fresh Swiss Water decaf arrival landing later this year.

MARKET REPORT

If any of these terms in the market report are confusing, we urge you to use Investopedia to make sense of them. We have found it to be a brilliant tool when learning about all things trading, futures and currency.

In the last month we saw some large bearish movements in both the New York and London markets.

Arabica (New York) opened at 340 USC/lb, before rallying to a month high of 371 USC/LB on 06/06. From here on, the market moved in a downward trajectory for the rest of the month to close out at 300.10 USC/LB, which was effectively a 6-month low (matching levels seen back in January).

This sell off comes with the progression of the Brazilian harvest to around 30% completion, and good reports of volumes and bean sizes being harvested. Good rains throughout coffee producing regions have also led to a more positive outlook for Brazil's 26/27 harvest which eases a lot of the concerns around arabica volumes in the near to medium term.

We did see a small frost in pockets early last week, although the damage was very minimal with an estimated 250,000 bags lost and it didn't seem to worry the market. It does remind us that despite the bearish days we are seeing in the market, until we get past the start of August we are still in a critical time where frosts can occur, and everyone will be watching the weather forecast like hawks for any sign of cold fronts coming through the coffee regions.

To add to the downwards pressure, Robusta (London market) continued its downward trajectory from last month, opening the month at 4415 USD/MT and proceeded to fall steadily to 3624 USD/MT and 10-month lows. This comes off the back of positive reports for Vietnam’s robusta harvest, with an increase forecast to reach 30 million bags in the 2025/26 market year (October to September), up from 28 million in the previous year according to the latest USDA estimates.

NEW ARRIVAL - SWISS WATER DECAF

Swiss Water Process - Colombia Peñas Blancas Pink Bourbon Washed

Grown in the highlands of Peñas Blancas at 1,750 MASL, this Pink Bourbon microlot is the result of unique processing and bold experimentation, including anaerobic fermentation, thermal shock, and stainless-steel precision drying.

Decaffeinated using the 100% chemical-free Swiss Water® Process, this lot retains its full Colombian character while removing 99.9% of the caffeine. It’s proof that decaf is just as compelling as any fully caffeinated cup.

Cupping Notes: Delicate peach ice-tea, florals and tropical fruits throughout. A silky body and with a mango, lychee and vanilla finish.

Crafted by brothers Diego and Jhoan in Huila, Colombia—whose legacy, shaped by family and fuelled by innovation, continues to push boundaries in both flavour and farming sustainability.

Due to be available in September! A limited release - so be sure to express interest with your Account Manager before it sells out!

GLOBAL TIGER DAY 2025

Later this month on the 29th of July, we mark Global Tiger Day—an annual reminder of the urgent need to protect one of the world’s most iconic and endangered species. Tigers are a keystone species, playing a critical role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystems in which they live. Yet, they continue to face mounting threats including habitat destruction, poaching, and the impacts of climate change.

At Bennetts, we're proud to support efforts that drive real change. Through our partnership with the WildCats Conservation Alliance, we contribute to vital tiger conservation projects that also promote sustainable practices within coffee-growing communities.

As part of this commitment, we donate USD $1 for every bag of our India Tiger Mountain Coffee sold—supporting both conservation and the people working to protect the landscapes tigers call home.

India Tiger Mountain™ A Grade - (30Kg)

Currently available and ready to order, this coffee features vibrant notes of orange, sweet honey, caramel, and milk chocolate. A smooth body and sweet lemon acidity carry through to a creamy lime and almond finish.

By choosing our India Tiger Mountain Coffee, you’re directly contributing to a more sustainable future for our tigers and the planet.

GROUNDS FOR HEALTH AUCTION 2025

We’re excited to announce that Bennetts will be partnering with Grounds for Health as part of an upcoming charity auction, taking place in the second half of August 2025. This is a new and meaningful step for us, and we’re proud to be supporting an initiative that creates real impact in coffee-growing communities.

The auction will feature two exceptional coffees, including a limited lot from the highly regarded Café Granja La Esperanza (CGLE)— a name that needs no introduction in the world of specialty coffee. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Grounds for Health, with more details about the coffees, how to register, and how to place a bid to be shared in the coming weeks.

About Grounds for Health

Grounds for Health is a non-profit organisation focused on preventing cervical cancer in women living in coffee-producing communities. Since 1996, Grounds for Health has partnered with coffee cooperatives and local health organisations to create sustainable cervical cancer prevention programs in Latin America and Africa—delivering life-saving screenings, early treatment, and training for local healthcare providers.

Cervical cancer is both preventable and treatable when caught early, yet it remains one of the leading causes of cancer death among women in low-resource settings. Through its programs, Grounds for Health empowers women, strengthens health systems, and builds healthier communities in the very regions where so much of the world’s coffee is grown.

By participating in the auction, you’re not only gaining access to some truly outstanding coffee—you’re also helping fund essential healthcare that has the power to save lives.

Stay tuned as we release more information closer to the auction date. We can’t wait to share more about the coffees, the producers behind them, and how you can get involved. If you would like to learn more about Grounds for Health – please follow the link here

CAFÉ SMART

Café Smart is an annual coffee-led campaign that unites roasters, cafes, and coffee enthusiasts around the country to raise awareness and funds to fight homelessness and support those at risk in their local area. This campaign kicks off in less than 4 weeks and we are excited to celebrate doing good through coffee.

From the 2nd – 8th August, roaster and cafes around Australia will be joining forces to do their bit for grassroots community services across Australia.

Roasters are connecting their wholesale networks, while cafes are leading the charge as social impact champions, donating $1 per coffee sold on the main fundraising day, Friday 8th August.

There are many ways you can get involved in this incredible initiative, so we are encouraging all our industry peers to sign up and be part of this coffee movement.
